World Cup 2023: Basit Ali asks PCB chief selector Inzamam-ul-Haq to resign

World-Cup-2023-Baist-Ali-Inzamam-ul-haq-resign

KARACHI: Former Pakistan cricketer Basit Ali has said Chief Selector Pakistan Cricket Board Inzamam-ul-Haq should resign immediately after allegations raised by PCB Managing Committee Chairman Zaka Ashraf, following the poor performance of the Green Shirts in ICC World Cup 2023.

PCB managing committee head Zaka Ashraf in his interview hinted at questioning the business agreements signed by the cricketers and the chief selectors after surfacing of media reports about influences of the management company in the cricket team.

Zaka Ashraf said that the cricket board would devise legislation regarding the business agreements between the cricketers and the chief selectors. “Such business agreements could have become a reason for a clash in the team’s interests. The chief selectors will be questioned and legislation will be devised.”

Talking in ARY News program Har Lamha Purjosh, Basit Ali said allegations raised by Zaka Ashraf are serious and Inzamam-ul-Haq should step down from his position.

Replying to a question, Basit Ali asked what is the need to meet with the chief selector now when serious allegations have already been leveled against him.

“Matters should have not been made public like this way before an inquiry into the matter,” Basit Ali said.

Pakistan’s former wicket-keeper batter Kamran Akmal said it was the agent’s job to attach players with him and seek business for them, but here is a redline, if that is crossed, the PCB should look into the matter.

Reacting to the interview of Zaka Ashraf, former captain Azhar Ali said the PCB managing committee head should have not talked so openly until the inquiry into the matter.
